The packages that are seized by law enforcement

Hello there everyone… i would like to get a bit of your help… I just have had a letter which says ‘seized by law enforcement’ in the tracking information on the USPS website… I have been having some medications for my grandfather’s diabetes, there are some insulins. So, from as much as I can understand, those are all gone now, right? I mean… I am not an expert but from as much as I know… there is already no way that I somehow can get it back, right? I can forget about it?! I have no idea what to do now as I really really need those medications, I mean, my grandfather does… and Im completely idealess. I have been doing some research on this and I have read somewhere online that there are some few people who have had their letters opened up, inspected (I guess) and then released and ultimately still delivered to the owner. I mean… I honestly just can’t believe that they have seized those insulin for my grandfather medication, Jesus! As if I had some kind of dangerous narcotics or something. Of course I am going to try to get the insulin from my grandfather somewhere else now but… that’s just so frustrating. I’m now really scared for my grandfather because of his crazy diabetes, because of a bad insurance and because of that uncaring doctor. Please someone, tell me what I can do about all of this situation, I will appreciate any ideas!May 4, 2017 at 7:22 am #1627
Hi Lock Down… I’m very sorry for you and your father but you are not going to be receiving that medication (insulin or whatever else is in there) and I am 100% sure that you wouldn’t ever see it. Yeah, indeed, there are some packages that do get their packages opened and even so, they are still being released and then forwarded to the customer just as it has been sent, only with that sign on it that shows that it has been opened up. The reason why they still release it is unknown. It mostly depends on each luck… someone’s packages are getting seized, others are not. There are also such situations when some people are having part of their medication removed and then sent to them. you’ve just got to keep in mind these are only a few and far between, there are always such kind of risks and you should have been prepared that something like this could have happened.
Anyway, now, since you do have a letter from CBP, I just think that you must take a picture of it and then to forward it to your vendor. Not all vendors agree to resend your items (without paying) but it depends on what you both have discussed about this and to what you’ve both come to (although I’ve heard about vendors saying that they would reship in case of seizure and in the end they have not… but usually those vendors are scammers). If he warned you that in case of seizure he won’t reship for free then… I’m sorry… whatever the case, I really hope that he is going to replace your items for your grandfather. And yeah, they can seizure medications even including insulin as it is against the law to purchase them.
As for now, I just recommend you to check the website or your email from the vendor and check if there is any mention about replacement or something like that. In whatever the case, I would still send the LL to your vendor and see what does he (or she) is telling you about that. I wish you good luck with this and I hope you won’t be having any more seized packages. Also I’m sorry for your grandfather not receiving his insulin.May 4, 2017 at 7:34 am #1628
Hello LockDown… I know you might want it not to be true but indeed, Amy is definitely right and correct in saying that… so, unfortunately the package that you were expecting is not ever going to be delivered to you… that’s why it is called ‘seized’. Gotta say that it is very unlikely that they are going to come after you for anything just in case you are being worried about this (I know you might get scared because of this.. I am a member of multiple forum sites and I often see people getting really really scared that someone is going to come after them when they are getting such kind of letters after their packages are getting seized). So everything’s gonna be fine… however a notification that serious indicates you are out of luck… unfortunately.
I don’t know why you said uncaring doctors etc. etc. but I know that elder people with diabetes shouldn’t be playing around… try to get any doctor to help your grandfather in case he really needs some help… hope this would be helpful. Good luck!May 4, 2017 at 8:02 am #1629
So well… you should be prepared of the thing that they are going to send you a letter in your mail that we are all affectionately are calling that a ‘love letter’ or you can also see it called in short: LL. Well, generally this is simply gonna be the extent of the laws involvement in this issue. Anyhow, as it has already been mentioned by someone else up there, I would try to contact your vendor and I would check if they are going to agree to reship. Perhaps packaging it a little bit better or something like this. Hope you’re fine!May 4, 2017 at 8:27 am #1630
Oh wow, that’s something I have never even thought to be honest… I did not realize that would show up as a USPS status! Just wow, can someone explain and relate on this more? Please? Is that something new or there’s something that I overlooked? Thanks!May 4, 2017 at 8:41 am #1631
oh yeah, I do agree with others and I must also say that pretty much exactly as those other people here have already mentioned it – while it is still possible, it is still very and very unlikely that you are going to receiving anything else other than just a ‘Love Letter’, however considering what it is, this is just ridiculous that they would keep or destroy it. I did have had a lot of 2 in my life and I simply just ignored for them to destroy or split up, however that has been some kind of stuff that I was having nearly no interest in claiming them up so I just let them go like that. I am really hoping very much that they are just going to reseal and to send it on out to you, but unfortunately, I guess you understand that there are only a few chances that such a thing is going to happen… whichever the case, good luck to you and your grandfather, hope he’s gonna be alright!May 4, 2017 at 9:16 am #1632
Hey there, since you asked to relate more on this, I will try my best:
Oh wow, that’s something I have never even thought to be honest… I did not realize that would show up as a USPS status! Just wow, can someone explain and relate on this more? Please? Is that something new or there’s something that I overlooked? Thanks!
So well… I did have seen that status one time… I really did. Truth is that it was not on my own package, however since I have seen it with my own 2 eyes on the tracking (and yeah, it was not a screen shot either, like someone could say that it was photo shopped – it was not) I believe that status does exist indeed! But I used to think that it does not. Whichever the case, that’s surely not the most comforting thing to see, I am darn sure about this! Whatever the case, I know that the person who have got that status (as I know the person personally) has got a visit from LE/ DEA or whoever it was from. We were really scared… that package has been seized after customs so there has been no LL sent or anything. I gotta say that I really don’t know what the result is going to be for this package. I just can guess that there were some kind of overzealous postal worker who most likely have had no idea what it was in there and they were thinking that they have made some kind of a bust of the century or something, but then HA! Only some freaking dangerous insulin. Surely the bust of the century.
Also I must say… LockDown… trust me I am very and very sorry that you have lost your package, I really hope that you aren’t ever going to get your packages seized… however for now you must pull yourself together. I do understand that you might be scared for your grandfather, but pulling yourself together would make your mind clear and therefore you can think of what you should do further for your grandfather to feel fine. I am just really surprised to see that your grandfather’s doctor isn’t giving him prescription for insulin and you must purchase it over the seas. People with diabetes who need insulin, usually, do not have issues with getting their meds.
But anyway… I do know and I am sure that it is very upsetting to know that your package it is not coming to you and that it has been seized… now I would say that you have pretty much just 2 options (I guess) which I can recommend you… that’s either to make another order and maybe to have it delivered to a friend in some other city or town or to go and to see another physician maybe somewhere else that is going to help your grandfather better than this current doctor he’s visiting. In the end, I just tell you – you should not just give up like that and do not let them to win only due to the fact that they have yanked one package from you… surely nothing that bad happened, although it is frustrating, I know.May 5, 2017 at 12:15 pm #1634
Hi sinseno and thanks for answering. I have not noticed that it has been an online notification, to be honest. But… I still want to ask you… do you really think that someone is going to come after him for an insulin?! I mean… it does sounds to me… stupid… but if that’s so that is really off the chart. That’s just… unbelievableMay 5, 2017 at 12:23 pm #1635
Hi AmyGodness… it is obvious that they are not… I mean, of course they are not going to come because he ordered some insulin, talking about this> *Hi sinseno and thanks for answering. I mean… it does sounds to me… stupid… but if that’s so that is really off the chart. That’s just… unbelievable *
What I was trying to say is that when it is being showed up on the USPS tracking that means that the postal service has put their hands on it and not the customs. As I have said it earlier, most likely, there is some kind of a postal worker who most likely has gotten all excited by thinking that they were doing something good (or maybe even noble in their opinion) or maybe they were just have been having some in service about illegal packages or something like this and they flagged it and then later, after that they have turned it over to either the postal inspector or to the regular LE. *just insert here the eye roll at the employee. *
Whichever the case, in the end this is only an insulin… it is surely not going to rock anybody’s world! The only issue it is that importing prescriptions it is currently being illegal and plus to that, also possessing that medication (in our case, we are talking about insulin) without having a valid US script for that medication (again, in our case insulin only) it is also illegal but that’s in case the insulin you have got is rx. If I’m not wrong – there is insulin that is OTC. Anyhow… what they can do and what they are actually going to do is extremely much varying from location to location! Like for example, where I am living then I guess that they would not look at it twice, however in some kind of a small town somewhere in USA (esp. if it’s far away from all their sections) then they might just be a pain about it. Whatever the case… I one would not be worried about it, to be honest… in the end, the OP has never been in the possession of that package. If we think about it for a minute… there’s absolutely nothing that they can get him for in reality (and that’s especially if the insulin is OTC!). they are surely not going to make any kind of a huge case over the insulin, I’m darn sure about this. If there would be like for example a HUGE amount of Xanax or Oxy or something in this matter then yeah, you might be in a little town in USA you’re still gonna get a visit about it as that’s a huge issue, however they won’t do it over a some insulin.
To be honest with you guys… I really think that even if they would follow through… they will most likely just are going to tell the OP (or that would seem like asking 😀 ) to stop ordering online and be done with it but then again, this is only in case they would even bother about it all, which I think that they are not. However, yeah, they will surely are going to confiscate it though… it doesn’t really matter if they are visiting or they are not – the package OP won’t ever see.May 6, 2017 at 6:15 am #1636
Hey there everyone… thanks for your informative answers and replies… I appreciate it very much.. I am just going to read them more carefully and maybe I would ask some questions based on your posts people but until then… I also wanted to ask you something else.. something like… has this ever happened to anyone else? Or I am the only one? What I am talking about is that it has made it through customs, however it then still got seized, it got seized by law enforcement… I mean.. I used to think that as soon as it passes through customs then there’s nothing that can keep it from not coming to me… this means that I was wrong? Isn’t that weird? Or it is me that understood something wrong? I mean… I was used to think that only the customs are able and could do that (seizing the packages) and as soon as it went through, what right does the post office have to open (or to even confiscate) your mail?! I mean… seriously… I do find it extremely strange and I am not sure what to think about this… to be honest… I am now wondering how far off the tv show person of interest really is… we are all being watched, we are being all tracked as well as recorded… and that’s all the time… every single step of the way in our every day life! Not sure what do you think about this and how you feel it, but to me that’s a pretty frightening thought! To be honest… I wouldn’t be surprised if the next thing that they are going to do now is to do away with cash and credit cards and they are going to put one little chip under the skin for both the purchases we could do and for identification purposes! And, of course, all of this only for our safety and for our convenience… definitely not for anything else.
Yeah… I do realize that I seem to go completely off topic and I want to apologize for this… but I just want to say… WOW, just WOW, I’m shocked where we’re all going… this new way of the world it is just scaring me… we’re always in somebody’s control. And we don’t know that we are and we don’t even know in whose control… that’s frightening to me. I just can’t be alone with all of these thoughts now. Sorry… it all just started from the insulin for my grandfather… seemingly it went too far now.May 6, 2017 at 7:46 am #1637
Well, yes, you are right on this:
What I am talking about is that it has made it through customs, however it then still got seized, it got seized by law enforcement… I mean.. I used to think that as soon as it passes through customs then there’s nothing that can keep it from not coming to me… this means that I was wrong? Isn’t that weird? Or it is me that understood something wrong? I mean… I was used to think that only the customs are able and could do that (seizing the packages) and as soon as it went through, what right does the post office have to open (or to even confiscate) your mail?!
and that’s because indeed, as soon as the package is passing customs and it is being accepted in the domestic mail system (as it is being shown to you by a location on the tracking with a zip code) then they are not allowed to open the package, at least not without a warrant. Since I doubt that they have got a warrant… if I have had to guess, based on the things that I have read and my bit of experience… your package has not been opened at this point in time, to be honest… however, for some kind of unknown (yet) reason, it has been flagged. This can happen because of it being ripped apart by some machinery, accidentally if the vendor hasn’t really closed it properly or if the workers ‘thrown’ it somehow, or just from some postal worker out there that was really intrigued in finding out what are the contests as some sort of contraband based on the customs label. I have some pretty big doubts that you are going to find out unless your package is going to be released by LE (and yeah, at least in theory, it could be if those people are going to think of it as a non troublesome stuff) or, also, until LE is going to give you a visit. If that’s so, then they are going to put that package in front of you and they are going to ask for your permission to open it (in front of them, of course) and this is the way that they are going to know what’s inside of that package without getting a warrant for opening it up. And if it does comes to this point (which I doubt, but who knows) I still wouldn’t be worried too much to agree to open that package up since you have only insulin for your grandfather there (if there’s indeed insulin only, but I doubt that you lied us here since I don’t see any reason for you to lie here, as we surely can’t harm you). In fact, I can tell you more… not allowing them to do so it doesn’t really matter and that’s for a reason… they are going to get that warrant no matter what (as they would get the package with them) and it really doesn’t look good if you would refuse (and it looks suspicious IMO). And so, as soon as they are going to see that those contests are not any kind of high end mind altering drug or anything else dangerous in there, they are just going to give you their absolutely harmless standard warning about not purchasing any medications online (even including insulin too) and then they are going to leave… but yeah, most likely they are going to take the package with them as I highly doubt that they would give it to you.
With that being said… yeah… I do know that this entire experience can be scary and if you think of it – it is, in fact, designed to be scary… that’s because they must protect big pharma and to convince you (even by scaring you) that you must purchase only American made products. And yeah, be sure that they absolutely do not care whether do you (or your grandfather) are finding it hard to get a script for whichever medication or that your life (or your grandfather’s life) is getting downside because you’re not able to get that medication. In the end… there’s just some kind of a greedy CEO, or maybe a COO, or CFO or VP or it doesn’t really matter who has to get is bonus and in case we are going to purchase medicine from overseas then that’s just getting their bonuses lower which they obviously wouldn’t let happen. And with all the money, power and influence they have, they can do it… they just want you and everyone else to believe that there is absolutely nobody else on this whole planet who knows how to make any medicine at all, which, we all realize very well that this is completely ridiculous!
In the end, even if that’s an script needed insulin (because as I said, not all insulins, from as much as I know, require a script, only some) I hope a lot that your grandfather would be able to get a script from his physician! The reship idea is indeed good, but there’s just absolutely no way to know if the reship is going to make it through or it will not. That’s because the seizure by the postal service it is somehow different than the seizure by customs. Plus to that, I also think that it also depends on where in the chain that package has been flagged too… like for example in your city, in a larger city that it is anywhere near you (or if you’re in a larger city) or in a city anywhere that’s not very near to you.
Lately… I would really say that you’ve just try not to worry too much about it, however I can understand very well that this is pointless in saying this so I’m not even gonna try doing so… that’s because I do realize very well that if I would be in your shoes now, I would also be nervous, of course, knowing that at some point they could decide to address that package.. although I realize that nothing would happen, I would still get worried. There are also such possibilities in which they could simply just toss it in the trash and to think of it not worth their time… not sure, because on the other hand, now that they are having it in their hands, they surely want to see what’s in it. Don’t know… but I’m nearly 100% that you won’t get that mail for yourself.
I wish you sincere good luck with all of this and I am really hoping a lot that you are going to come back here and you would let us know if there’s anything that would further happen (I mean, when it would happen…)
